Job Descriptions
Research Specialist:
The research specialist will be responsible for examining all web related sources for your tribe and writing a one to two page report detailing your research findings. Your report will need to present information covering the following categories:
-Location - Where your tribe, or group of tribes lived, generally by region.
-Dwellings - What structures did your Native American people build in order to give their families shelter and how did they build them?
-Food source(s) - What kinds of foods did your Native American people eat and why do you think they chose those items?
-Nomadic or stationary - Did the tribe you are investigating roam freely across a range of territory or did they remain in one place for a longer period of time?
-Values or Beliefs - Were there any special values or beliefs that helped to shape day to day life in the tribe? If so, what were those beliefs and how did they affect day to day life?
Conflict and Cooperation - Did the tribe you are researching have frequent conflicts with other tribes, or were they generally peaceful? What was the reason for this?
Artifact Creator:
The Artifact Creator will begin to help the museum to rebuild their collection of artifacts by creating an artifact him or herself. The artifact creator will have a choice of creating a diorama, or a power point presentation for the museum to display. The requirements for each choice are listed below:
Diorama - The diorama must show the following: Food source - Transportation means - Dwellings - People - Location (some evidence of this).
Power Point presentation - Should be 6 slides long. One slide should be a title slide, and five other slides that cover each of the elements that are required in the diorama.
Cartographer:
The cartographer will be responsible for creating an outline map of North America and then showing the regional location of your Native American tribe or tribes. Your map should include the following items:
-Title
-Key
-Compass Rose
-Major bodies of water (including relevant rivers)
-Regional location of your Native American Tribe including a symbol or symbols that represent your tribe.
Even master cartographers would recommend that you begin your map in pencil and finish it in a more permanent drawing implement.
